100 Textile Sketches: 029-037

These sketches are studies for a project. I experimented with appliqué letters and framing images.

I'm making a quilt to commemorate my first year as a grower of natural dye plants. It contains dyed fabric of all the flowers I grew specifically for dyeing last year, alongside a few favorites already growing in our yard. The top is finished and I’m planning the back. It includes cyanotypes of plants and seeds as well as documentation about the plants used.

While these aren’t the most compelling standalone compositions, they were super helpful to test ideas for my garden quilt. I now have a concrete plan of attack!
