100 Textile Sketches: 020-028

I had fun tessellating laser cut letters for this batch. But they sure are fiddly! I had to baste them down with a glue stick and then figure out a continuous path to attach them to the background fabric.

The text comes from a re-weaving piece I did earlier this year: “My art hath taught my fingers ends (to write without paper ink or pens).” It’s a message found on a 1700s embroidery sampler and it resonates with me and my work: textiles are the medium that allows me to explore and describe the world around me.
