A tessellation is a shape or tile that repeats to create a continuous pattern. They can be as simple as a square kitchen tile or as complex as M.C. Escher's art.

In this workshop, you’ll learn a super simple method to create your own "tiles" using transparent acrylic blocks and craft foam. Then, you’ll learn about the four key elements to create repeating patterns and will explore the infinite ways you can use them to quickly prototype your own designs.

I’ll guide you through a series of prompts and exercises, then we’ll have free time to create and share. Our final project will be a set of greeting cards with your favorite self-created designs. We’ll be working with paper and ink pads, but we’ll discuss how the patterns you create can be carried forward to a variety of mediums. You’ll leave with several stamps of your own design, a stack of printed patterns on paper, your gorgeous original cards, and a wealth of ideas for your next project.
