I'm back!

I took a break from blogging and moved to Instagram. But since my IG posts are trending longer, I figure it might be time to try blogging again. This way, I have a more substantiative record of my projects.

Right around the time I stopped blogging, I started sewing. One of my last posts and first sewing projects was the Archer Button Up (see: Sprout Patterns & 2 Archer Button Ups). Since then, so much has happened in my creative journey! Here's a recap.

  • I stopped yarnbombing. I still have my knitting machines though. I'm sure they'll eventually make a reappearance.

  • I finished the 100 Day Project from my last post: The 100 Day Project 2017: Painting Tiny Canvases (Days 1-25). I did 100 consecutive days of art. The first 50 were tiny paintings and the last 50 were stamping/printing (I switched topics halfway through since I discovered I hated painting 🙃). Curious about those? You can see them on IG here: #100tinycanvases and #allyprint.

  • My sewing has taken off! I've been sewing like crazy -- lots of clothes, first using a Brother CS6000i and then a Brother 1034D serger. About a year ago, I upgraded to a Janome M7050 sewing machine, which I love. Looking to upgrade my serger at some point since we're not as good friends.

  • I did another 100 Day Project! I took a different approach to this one -- it was 100 non-consecutive days where I worked on clothes sewing projects. This one was much less suited to Instagram but it leveled up my sewing game a ton. It also got me very interested in slow and intentional sewing. You can see it on IG here: #100daysofsewingclothes.

  • I started quilting in earnest and discovered I loved it. It helps me balance my clothes sewing. I made a large quilt from Elizabeth Hartman's North Stars pattern. This one deserves a blog post of it's own! I finished it about a month ago. See the progress here: #northstarsprogress.

  • My newest hobby is weaving. This stemmed from my clothes sewing -- I was curious about weaving fabric I could sew with. I took an amazing weekend weaving intensive with Sheng at Oakland Fiber (can't recommend her enough!!) and ended up buying a beautiful Gilmore loom from her when she was downsizing. It's a jack loom with 40" of weaving width and 4 harnesses. I love it.

That's about it! You're all caught up now. Follow my IG for day-to-day and in progress posts, but I'm planning to document more involved projects in full here.
